I love Tabu Shabu and I am glad that there is a location closer to home so that I don't have to drive all the way to the Costa Mesa location. I ordered the prime beef belly with kombu base, brown rice, and shirataki noodles. What make Tabu Shabu stand out from the other shabu restaurants are the quality of the ingredients and how the food is being presented. The kombu broth comes with kombu (kelp) and you can taste it. It doesn't taste like just water. There's a hint of kombu flavor in the broth. The meat comes with the option to have it "dressed" with green onions, garlic, and chili oil. The vegetable platter comes with a nice variety of vegetables. As for service, I never had a bad experience at any Tabu Shabu locations. The wait to be seated and for the food to arrive to you isn't long. The servers are very attentive and checking often to make sure water is refilled and how I am liking the food. As for the ambiance, it's very clean and modern. I like the art and sign on the walls.

Great service, solid portions and lots of different cuts for options. Sauces are solid which is always a deciding factor for Shabu!

The majority of my Tabu experiences have ten to go orders. I'm so glad they have it as a carry out option. The Tabu for 2 comes with 2 meats, 2 broths, veggies, noodles, rice, and potstickers. When I dined in, the server recommended a mix of 75% sukiyaki and 25% to katsu and that's been my go-to since. We have our own induction pot at home so shabu has been easy to take out. The meat quality is spectacular, the broths are yummy, and they give a lot of vegetables. Service is always great.

The food was amazing. I love how you have the ability to take it to go versus all of the other hot pot places I've been. The service was great as well. Our server was very attentive to us and if we any questions was able to answer. I would say it was a good server to people ratio. The atmosphere was cool as well, it was bar seating style so definitely something not with a big group of you wanted to talk to people.
